Jerry Don Hopkins, 67 Jerry Don Hopkins, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John Westman, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Hopkins was born on Nov. 20, 1938, in Pampa and was a 1957 graduate of Pampa High School. He attended West Texas State University. He married Melba Rice on Oct. 12, 1983, in Sayre, Okla. He was a salesman in the oil and gas industry for 40 years. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist church in Pampa, a member of Paducah Masonic Lodge, and a former member of Pampa Jaycees. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1963. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Melba of Phoenix, Ariz.; six sons, William Hopkins and wife Laura of Arlington, Steven Hopkins and wife Krista, and Cullen Hopkins and wife Melissa, all of Amarillo, and Phillip Rice and wife Jan, Paul Rice, and Dean Rice and wife Tonya, all of Phoenix; one brother, J.C. Hopkins and wife Pattye of Marble Falls; one sister, Amalie Mowery and husband Gilbert of Knoxville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard (Dicky) Hopkins, and by a sister, Billie Jo Jeffers. The family requests memorials be to Odyssey Hospital, 1000 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79101.
