ROBERT EDWARDS
Amarillo, Texas 79106

I can’t believe that it has been fifty years since we graduated from Dear Old Pampa High!! Where does the time go? It seems to pass faster and faster the older I get. At least the birthdays sure seem to come around a lot more often.
I married Janice Gallman on August 31, 1957, in Amarillo. We went to college at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma for one year, then came back to Pampa and I went to work to complete my apprenticeship in painting. Had two great incentives– broke and hungry!! In 1960, I started my own contracting business. I worked all over the Panhandle of Texas, Oklahoma, the South Plains, and Kansas, as well as Montana and Utah, spray painting gasoline plants. After several years of that, the Dr. told me that if I wanted to live and do well, I must find another line of work, so I took up paperhanging and did some painting.
In 1987, Jan and I moved to Amarillo so she could finish her education at WT. I continued to hang paper and paint, and I took enough real estate courses to qualify for real estate inspector, but never did take the test. Since I have retired, I have used what I learned in dealing with personal real estate sales.
I have the privilege of taking care of my Mom, who will be 94 in November. She is a real joy, and I really feel blessed to still have her with us. The Lord has been so good to us, and we are grateful to Him for good health and the ability to do the things we enjoy doing.
