Being named after president Roosevelt did not make me rich or famous. In spite of that, I have managed to keep body and soul together through the years. I have four children, one boy and three girls, plus seven grandchildren, five boys and two girls. Another grandchild is due in December. All of them live in the Houston-San Antonio area.

Cletis and I have enjoyed traveling in the past but lately my travel has been mainly to the VA Clinic or to see the chiropractor and then back home. We still call Lubbock, Texas, home.

As I get older I have more time to sit and meditate, not only about things to make life easier, but also about things I could have done to make life better, but at this stage in life, what the heck!

What do I do? Nothing and I don't start that until 10 or 11 o'clock. However, I still sketch a few pictures, write a few poems and compose a few songs. I've recorded over thirty of my country tunes, some of them at South Plains College, some at a professional studio but many of them at home. A special thanks to Cletis and her computer knowledge for encouraging and assisting me in this project.

I also do custom harvesting in the immediate area during wheat and grain sorghum season. How much longer I will be doing that I don't know because I'm not for sure which is more worn out, me or the combine.

I don't want to give the wrong impression about getting older. I am not complaining because even though the future of getting old may not sound very good especially when there is no gold in the "Golden Years", but when you look at the alternative, getting older is not too bad.
