Wanda
Hi Group,

It is hard to believe that it has been almost fifty years since we graduated.  It really  went by in a hurry.  I missed the 40th reunion due to business reasons, so I haven't seen anyone since our 26th.

In November 2002, I lost my husband of forty three years to cancer.  We had been in business together since 1981, when he decided to leave education and enter the oil business.  He intended for me to go on with the business, and I could have run the office, but I don't think I would have been qualified to make decisions in the field.  Thus, I sold most of my oil interests when oil was about $25.00 per bbl.  Had I only known how high it would go!!!

I am living the retired life and sometimes I wonder how I ever had the time to work.  I have many hobbies.  I design and make jewelry, mount gems and am enamored with any kind of natural stone.  I love to lay tile and probably have the only double car garage in town that has a mosaic going completely across the front.  I am a volunteer at one of the hospitals here, and I really enjoy that.  I also enjoy redecorating houses.  After I finished mine, I started on my daughter's.  I can even plumb in a sink and set a commode!

On June 25, 2006, I realized a college dream of mine.  I sang in Carnegie Hall!  Instead of being the soloist, as in my college dream, I was very pleased just to be one person in a 150 voice choir .  I have been so awestruck just to realize that Tchaikovsky was the first person to ever play a concert in that hall.

I am very blessed to have two of my three children living right here in town.  My son is a Urologist and my daughter is a 6th grade math teacher who also writes math curriculum for the school system.  My other daughter graduated from Texas Tech and is married to an architect.  They live in Georgetown and have my only grandson, who is two years old.  I have five granddaughters, four of whom live here in town.  All of my grandchildren call me BonBon.

I really look forward to seeing my old classmates.  The bad thing about a class reunion is that everone there knows how old you are!

I'll see you at the reunion.  Wanda (Cook) McIver
