Charles Bowen Biography After graduating from PHS in 1957, I went off to The University of Texas at Austin, where I started out in electrical engineering, and finished up in 1961 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Just before Christmas, 1959, I met the love of my life, Dixie. We were married in June, 1961, the next day after I graduated. I worked as a Cost Accountant, Mfg. Engineer, and finally a Programmer/analyst for the next 12 years in the aerospace industry, at Boeing, TI, and LTV. LTV spun off their data processing into a separate subsidiary in 1972, which was bought by University Computing, where I worked in their banking software division for 10 years. In 1985, I decided I had had enough of the big corporation world, and formed my own small banking software consulting company. Many, many bank mergers finally dried up the market in late 2005, so I have sort of retired. We have four kids, now all happily married, and have twelve grandkids. All four kids and their families live within two miles of us here in Carrollton. Dixie and I celebrated our 46th anniversary this June. I keep busy gardening, and both of us are involved in many things at our church. I was elected Beautification and Maintenance Director for our neighborhood association last December, which also takes a lot of my free time. Dixie keeps our youngest grandson, who is 5, during the day while our younger daughter works, and will be keeping him in the afternoons after kindergarten starting this fall. We enjoy traveling, and have gone on two tours with a group of seniors from our church, 16 days to Germany and Austria in 2004, 16 days to England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland in 2006, and are going to New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji for 26 days next spring. I see from the bios that many of us have a personal relationship with Christ, several of us even becoming ministers or missionaries. The Lord has greatly blessed us, with Dixie and I both having continued good health, a very comfortable retirement, four children that live close by, are involved in their church, and have good health, and twelve beautiful, bright, healthy grandchildren that we get to see often. On Sundays and at various times during the week, you will find us just down the road from Vicki’s church, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Thanks, Luther, for an outstanding job on the website, and emailing – I’ve really been enjoying all the bios. Thanks also to the reunion committee for putting it together. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone Friday evening. Charlie Bowen
